The America soprano, Shabnam Abedi, was born to a Bangladeshi family in South Brunswick, New Jersey, USA. She excels in both chorus music for church and Indian classical music. She gave her first performance at the age of 3 in a Bengali Cultural Function in USA and then went on to commence her Indian classical music training at the age of 5. Her growing love for Indian classics led her to Nazrul tunes which she nurtures most passionately. She studied Indian classical music at Surpancham School of Music in New Jersey. She obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey (2013-2017); her Master of Music degree in Jazz/Jazz Studies from Queens College (2018-2020); ); and her Master of Music degree in Jazz/Jazz Studies from The Juilliard School (August 2020-May 2022).
Shabnam Abedi is active as Vocalist-Educator-Composer-Arranger in New York City. She was She is a member of Kirkpatrick Choir, the leading choir of Mason Gross School of Arts, New Jersey; and Soprano Section Leader/Soloist at Musica Viva/All Souls Unitarian Church in New York City. In August 2022 she joined the Choir of Trinity Wall Street. She recorded her first two albums in 2013 with Laser Vision. The albums named "Amar Bijon Ghore" and "Moromia" were recorded in Kolkata and released in Bangladesh. and a soprano section leader in All Souls Church in Manhattan. |
