The Portuguese contralto, Madalena Barão, began her musical studies at the age of 6 on the violin with Professor Eva Michalska and later studied at the Academia de Amadores de Música (AAM) where she completed the fifth degree of violin with Professor Jean Aroutiounian. At AAM she was a member of the Coro dos Pequenos Cantores where she had the opportunity to participate in several operas as a member of the children's choir. Later, she joined Professor Larissa Savchenko's singing class at the Escola Artística de Música do Conservatório Nacional (EAMCN), where she completed a course in Lyrical Singing (2012-2015). At EAMCN she was a member of the Coro Musaico (Director: Tiago Marques), where she participated in several choral festivals in Portugal and Germany. She was a soloist in Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël directed by Nathanael Júnior and Felix Mendelssohn's Drei geitliche Lieder directed by Tiago Marques.
Madalena Barão is currently a member of the Coro Ricercare (Director: Pedro Teixeira) and is also a member of the Ensemble São Tomás de Aquino (Director: João Andrade Nunes).
Madalena Barão holds a Master's Degree in Management from ISCTE Business School (September 2018-2020) and a degree in Accounting from the Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração in Lisbon (ISCAL) (September 2015-June 2018). She currently lives in Lisbon, Portugal and works as a Sales Analyst. |
