Belvárosi Ferences Kántorátus (Choir)

Founded: Fall 2002 - Budapest, Hungary

In the fall of 2002, the need arose for the church to have its own independent school, serving Sunday and holiday masses and vespers. Therefore, in the Belvárosi Ferences Templomban (Belvárosi Franciscan Church), the Cappella Mariana school was founded in Advent 2002, which served the liturgy for the first time on the first Sunday of Advent at the mass of Father Balázs Barsi.

The members of the school are music lovers, music teachers, and musicians who contribute to the beauty of the liturgy with their service as pre-singers. The members of the school sing at the Sunday mass and vespers, which begin at 6:30 p.m., as well as at the liturgical events of church holidays.

Since their 15th anniversary, their new name has been: Belvárosi Ferences Kántorátus.

The founder of the school and its leader from the beginning to the present day is Mónika Kecskés.
