The American soprano/mezzo-soprano vocalist and voice/piano teacher, Kayleigh Bennett, was a senior Vocal Music Performance and Music Education double major at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania (2015-May 2019), where she studied with Megan Durham and Suzanne Kompass. She was part of Moravian Choir, Women's Chorus, Vocalis Select Vocal Ensemble, Opera and Stagecraft Ensemble, Song and Stagecraft Ensemble, the Monteverdi Ensemble, Voice Mastery Class, Salon Ensemble and was the Allentown Symphony Collegiate Soprano. She also played trumpet for the Moravian College Marching Band, Big Band, Baroque Ensemble and is the Principal Trumpet of the Moravian College Community Orchestra. She received her Masters in Vocal Performance with a concentration in opera/voice pedagogy at New England Conservatory, where she studied with Jane Eaglen. In summer 2018, she was selected as one of 18 young artists for and performed with the Up North Vocal Institute in 2019, a highly selective opera performance program with applicants from all around the world. She won 1st prize in the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Lehigh Valley competition for Division 4, Song & Aria.
Kayleigh Bennett is currently based in Boston. In 2019, her 115-page academic article on the operas of Puccini was granted honors and is currently displayed in Reeves Library. In the 2021-2022 season, she performed the role of Lena in the Serbian a capella opera Svadba by Ana Sokolović and The Spirit in Dido and Aeneas at New England Conservatory of Music. She was invited to sing the role of Mrs. Ford in The Merry Wives of Windsor by Otto Nicolai with the Up North Vocal Institute for their 2019 season. She has performed as the soprano concert soloist in Arvo Pärt's Stabat Mater, Christopher Tin’s Calling All Dawns, Leonard Bernstein's Mass, and Ariel Ramírez’s Misa Criolla. She is currently the alto section leader and soloist with St. Cecilia's of Boston.
Kayleigh Bennett has taught voice and piano dozens of students over several years of private lesson teaching in both Pennsylvania and Massachusetts since she was a senior in High School (since September 2015). While she studied classical music, she also has a passion for musical theater and modern music. Her students have gone on to record albums, earn spots in select choirs, become leads of musicals, and get into college for music based careers. Kayleigh teaches to encourage an enduring passion in music, whether as a hobby or career. She uses academically proven techniques while engaging in what the students find interesting. Her goal is for every student to find success and improve in a welcoming, fun environment. |
