The American tenor and choral conductor, Joel Bevington, is from Albany, Oregon, where his parents, both teachers and musicians, live. He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Organ from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music where he also studied choral music and conducting (2001-2005). He graduated in May 2007 from Emory University/Candler School of Theology with a Master of Music degree in Organ (2005-2007), and where he served as the Cannon Chapel Organist and the Music Director. He obtained his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University (2011-2013). Since 2014, he is enrolled at the University of Washington as a doctoral student in choral conducting.
Joel Bevington has served as Choir Director and Piano Instructor at Ursuline Academy of New Orleans (August 2010-Aug 2011); Director of Music Ministry and Organist at Rayne Memorial United Methodist Church in New Orleans (for seven years since August 2007). Since March 2014, he is Director of Music Ministeries at First Lutheran Church of Richmond Beach in Shoreline, Washington. He currently lives in Seattle, Washington. |
