The Dutch contralto/mezzo-soprano, Saskia Bouma, studied at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague and then continued her studies with Ronald Klekamp. She attended master classes with Diane Forlano, Barbara Pearson (England), Hanno Blaschke (Germany) and Isabel Aragón (Spain). Currently she is coached by Liljana Nejceva.
Saskia Bouma was engaged by chamber choirs such as the Nederlandse Bachvereniging (Director: Jos van Veldhoven), Cappella Amsterdam (Director: Daniel Reuss), GewandhausKammerchor Leipzig (Director: Morten Schuldt-Jensen) and the Rheinische Kantorei (Director: Hermann Max). She has worked with many conductors including Philippe Herreweghe, Riccardo Chailly, Frans Brüggen, Paul McCreesh, Sigiswald Kuijken, Gustav Leonhardt, Ton Koopman, Christian Zacharias, Herbert Blomstedt and René Jacobs and with orchestras such as the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, Orchestra of the 18th Century and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. As a soloist she was engaged by the opera company Kontraveneus in Barcelona and has sung oratorios in Czechoslovakia, France, Spain, Germany and Netherlands. In Qatar, she created the role of Mother Setera in the opera Ibn Sina by Michel Borstlap. Besides these activities she regularly sings Lieder recitals. She currently lives in Germany. |
