The Dutch mezzo-soprano/contralto, Daniëlla [Daniella] Buijck, studied at Scholengemeenschap 't Zwin te Oostburg (VWO: 1988-1994). She completing her Law studies at Katholieke Universiteit Tilburg (Nederlands recht: 1994-1999). She then proceeded to study Classical solo singing. In june 2009 she graduated from the Fontys Conservatorium in Tilburg, where she studied with Hanneke Kaasschieter en Xenia Meijer (2004-2009). While at the conservatory she received interpretation classes from Frans Fiselier and master-classes from Charlotte Margiono, Jard van Nes en Alexander Oliver. She also studied drama with Veerle van Hecke and Marc Krone. Today she is coached by Xenia Meijer and by Jard van Nes.
Daniëlla Buijck has studied a wide range of classical repertoire making her a highly versatile performer. As a soloist she is active in oratorio as well as in opera and song. Since 2008 she has also sung as a freelance member of the Netherlands Radio Choir in Hilversum and since 2010 as a freelance member of the National Reisopera. She has a passion for acting and a great love of literature, which enables her to convey as much as possible about the stories behind the music.
In oratorio Daniëlla Buijck has sung the alto solos in the Christmas oratorio and in both St. Matthew Pasion (BWV 244) and St. John Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach, Magnificat and Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi, Messiah, Coronation Anthems, Te deum laudamus and Dixit Dominus by George Frideric Handel, Oratorio de Noël by Camille Saint-Saëns, Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, Alt-rhapsody by Johannes Brahms, Requiem, Krönungsmesse and Vesperae Solennes de Confessore by W.A. Mozart and Stabat Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Bononcini and Jenkins, to name but a few. She performed as a soloist under conductors such as Louis Buskens, Wolfgang Lange, Maria van Nieukerken, Martien van Woerkum, Martin van der Brugge and Paul Valk.
In opera Daniëlla Buijck sang the part of Madame Flora in the opera The Medium van Menotti, directed by Jeroen Lopes Cardozo, the part of Annina in La Traviata by Verdi and Madame de Croissy in Dialogues des Carmélites by Francis Poulenc, directed by Marc Krone. She sang in the choir of Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck, in Winterthur, Zwitserland, conducted by Jac van Steen. In 2008 she played and sang in the absurdistic opera Stormval, produced by Productiehuis Brabant, touring many different festivals. In 2010, during a tour through the Netherlands, Belgium and the Oekraine, she sang the part of Mirabella in Der Zigeunerbaron by Strauss, conducted by Pieter Cox and produced by the International opera productions. In 2012 she sang the part of Olga in The Lustige Witwe by Lehar, again produced by the International opera productions.
Finally Daniëlla Buijck is a member of Duo D'anca, together with the soprano Kathelijn van Dongen. Together they organise and perform concerts and recitals with different themes for many occasions and happenings. |
