The Capella Piccola was established in 1985 in Neuss by former music students wishing to perform rare Early Music works. Since 1998 the choir is managed both musically and organisationally by Thomas Reuber.
In addition to the extensive concert activities, the choir has also participated in several radio, TV, LP and CD recordings, partly in collaboration with soloist and Baroque ensembles (in 1986 LP with Georg Philipp Telemann works; in 1988 CD with George Frideric Handel works; in 1989/90 double-CD with premiere recording of Johann Joseph Fux's oratorio Johannes der Täufer, chosen as CD of the month May 1990; in collaboration with the WDR in 1993/94 CD with the sacred music of the Dresden Baroque master Jan Dismas Zelenka; and in November 1998 CD with the premiere recording of a cantata by Hans-André Stamm).
Moreover, the choir has gathered in recent years, various stage experience through co-operation with the Rheinische Landestheater Neuss, especially Baroque operas by Henry Purcell for the Shakespeare Festival at the local Globe Theater (The Tempest, Dido & Aeneas, Fairy Queen, etc.). |
