Concerto d'Amsterdam (Period-instrument Ensemble) |
Founded: 1991 - Amsterdam, Holland |
Concerto d'Amsterdam was established in 1991 around baroque violinist and concertmaster Mariette Holtrop. Playing on period instruments, it rapidly emerged as one of The Netherlands' leading ensembles that focus on authentic performances of 17th and 18th century music.
Concerto d'Amsterdam is renowned for its original programming that combines standard repertoire with less known or even long forgotten pieces. The ensemble performs in a very original and transparent style. Concerto d'Amsterdam performed all over Europe with instrumental and vocal works with leading choirs and distinguished musicians such as Lynne Dawson, Emma Kirkby and Michael Chance.
During the season 2003-2004 internationally renowned harpsichordist and conductor Richard Egarr will be its principal guest-conductor. |
