The Italian-born tenor, Valerio Contaldo, grew in the canton of Valais in Switzerland. After studying classical guitar he studies singing with Gary Magby at the Lausanne Conservatory. He followed with lessons of Giorgio Paronuzzi (Baroque coaching), Anthony di Giantomasso (diction), Todd Camburn, Marie-Cécile Bertheau (coaching). He attended master-classes of Christa Ludwig, Alain Garichot, Klesie Kelly and David Jones. He is awarded Laureate of Foundations Madeleine Dubuis and Solidarvox of Sion and of Colette Mosetti in Lausanne. He is finalist of the Leipzig Bach Competition in 2008.
This season (2013-2014), Valerio Contaldo sings Jupiter in George Frideric Handel's Semele at Nice Opera, Primo Soldato/Lucano in l'Incoronazione di Poppea at Bastille Opera (conductor Rinaldo Alessandrini), Next season he will make his debuts as Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte at Nice Opera. |
