Cornell University Chamber Orchestra (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA

The Cornell Chamber Orchestra (= CCO) is an orchestra of about 30 players, comprising students from all of the colleges on campus. Acceptance into the orchestra is by audition only.

The Chamber Orchestra performs a wide range of works from the 18th century to present time, written expressly for the intimate setting of a smaller chamber orchestra. Individual players' musical responsibility and preparation is required for the more virtuosic Chamber Orchestra.

Cornell Chamber Orchestra has been fortunate to have a number of great musicians as guest conductors and music directors, including: Karel Husa (1954-1984), Edward M. Murray (1977-1996), John Hsu (1996-2005), Mark Davis Scatterday (2000-2002), Xak Bjerken (2002-2004).

Chamber Orchestra rehearses in Barnes Hall and performs many of their concerts in this venue.
