The Brazilian batitone, Marcelo Henrique Andrade Coutinho, began his musical career at the age of 8, joining the Canários de Petrópolis choir, where he learned theory, violin and viola and performed as a soloist for 10 years. He graduated in singing at the Escola de Música da Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) in 1989, obtaining his Master of Music degree in Musicology in his dissertation (1985-1989).
In addition to his chamber music repertoire, Marcelo Coutinho has performed as a soloist with important orchestras performing symphonic and operatic repertoire in Brazil, Latin America and Europe. He participated in several editions of the Bienal de Música Brasileira Contemporânea, where he performed several auditions of works by composers Ricardo Tacuchian, Marisa Resende, Roberto Victorio and among others. He got into voice acting in the 1990's, working as a voice actor, singer, choir director and music director for Walt Disney productions. In 1996, he founded the Double Sound dubbing studios, where he served as music director (July 1993-February 2011). He also teaches singing and vocal ensemble practice at the Escola de Música da UFRJ (since March 2011). He currently lives in Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro. He is married to Luciana Cappelli Seixas, with whom he had two sons, Bernardo and Rafael. |
