The Italian soprano, Paola Crema, graduated in opera singing in 2004 at the Coservatorio "C. Pollini" in Padua, where in 2007 she finished with the highest marks the two-year specialization in vocal chamber music. She attended various training courses and in particular has deepened the performance practice of Baroque music with Gloria Banditelli and Patrizia Vaccari at the Coservatorio "A.Pedrollo" in Vicenza, with C. Miatello, at the Coservatorio of Verona;. She attened master-classes on "theater and music" (A. Terrani); on "interpretation of secco recitative" (S. Patarino and R. Loreggian), on "Melodie" by Gabriel Fauré, Ravel and Debussy (L. De Lisi), the Russian vocal music from Glinka to Sergei Rachmaninov (V. Lyamina)
Paola Crema performs as a soloist and both with orchestra and with the organ, and is much-regarded for chamber music in duo with the piano. In 2003 she played the role of Servilia in the first performance in modern times of the opera La Clemenza di Tito by Galuppi, in 2006 and 2008, as the only Italian singer, she took part in the Vivaldi Festival in Vadstena and Linkoping (Sweden) playing the roles of Leocasta and Amanzio in the opera Il Giustino, of which a DVD on the label Quattrofilm has been realized.
Since 2007, Paola Crema is part in the Zipoli Ensemble, a group that deals with the recovery and diffusion of the musical production of the Jesuit missions in South America, with whom she gave important concerts in Italy and abroad. In 2008, she sang as a soloist at the Wiener Saal of Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg on the occasion of the concert of contemporary music "Portrait Konzert Aulon Naçi". In 2009, she participated in the first performance, of Psalmodia vespertina volans octo plenis vocibus concinenda" by A. Steffani.
In 2010, as the winner of the "Premio Fatima Terzo" competition, Paola Crema performed the Stabar Mater by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi-J.S. Bach (BWV 1083) at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza under the direction of Sigiswald Kuijken; in the same year was the soprano soloist in Antonio Vivaldi's Magnificat conducted by Roy Goodman at Villa Contarini (PD) and at the festival Grandezze e Meraviglie in Modena; in October she starred as Sefa in the world premiere in modern times of the oratorio Grandezze e Meraviglie by Galuppi, which was held at the Chiesa della Pietà in Venice for the Festival Galuppi 2010. For the Bassano Opera Estate 2010 and 2011 editions, she took part in a project designed and conducted by the musicologist and playwright Luca Scarlini, in which she sang with the tenor G. .Zoccatelli and lutenist P. Polato proposed musics of the repertoire of the 1500's and 1600's, brought to light by the Bassano musician Oscar Bassano Chilesott.
In June 2015, Paola Crema performed in Rome with the Zipoli Ensemble as a soloist at the Istituto Pontificio di Musica Sacra in the presence of Latin American ambassadors to the Santa Sede; in the same month the label Brilliant Classics released the CD "Alle figlie del coro" with music by Nicola Porpora, in which she took part as a soprano soloist. In 2013 and 2015, she sang for the season of the Teatro di Monfalcone. In March 2011, she participated, as a soloist, along with Emma Kirkby, in a concert dedicated to different female figures in the Shakespearean tradition, part of the season of the Fondazione del Teatro Bon di Colugna (Udine).
Regarding the the contemporary repertoire, in 2007, Paola Crema took part in the Settimana di studi Danteschi in Palermo, attended the premiere of the work Si come nave pinta da buon vento by S. Scodanibbio with text by E. Sanguineti (narrator), for Teatro Politeama; and, in the same year, she took part in the XI exhibition "Udine contemporanea " at the Teatro S. Giorgio with an unreleased song of M. Andri. She took part with pianists and actors to some Schubertiade organized by the Rotary Club and the Lions Club.
Paola Crema collaborates with various choral ensembles such La Stagione Armonica, Ensemble vocale Continuum, Ensemble Orologio, Artifizio Armonico, Coro del Friuli Venezia Giulia, Coro Tiepolo, Athestis Chorus, Coro del Teatro Sociale di Rovigo; and with ensembles directed, among others, by Riccardo Muti, Ton Koopman, Reinhard Goebel, Gustav Kuhn, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Ottavio Dantone, Peter Neumann, Sergio Balestracci, Ernest Hoetzl, Ola Rudner, Giampaolo Bisanti, Andrea Marcon, Zsolt Hamar, Filippo Maria Bressan.
Paola Crema held the concert lectures on vocal forms at the University of Padua, on voice functionality and styles in different times and places, at the middle and high schools. Since 2002 he is also teaches at various music schools. |
