Jeanne Crousaud (Sopeano)

Born: France

The French soprano, Jeanne Crousaud, was born in a performing arts environment. She started her music studies very early by taking violin, ballet and piano lessons. She then joined the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the opera singing section with Malcolm Walker and got her Master’s degree unanimously with magna cum laude in June 2014.

During her music studies, Jeanne Crousaud came to discover the Lied and melody repertoire with Anne le Bozec and Frédéric Stochl, and she formed two chamber music duets with pianists Lise Charrin and Tanguy de Williencourt. In the course of her studies she also took part in numerous master-classes with Alain Garichot, Daniel Ferro, Claudio Desderi, Rié Hamada, Maarten Koningsberger, Janina Baechle, Jean-Paul Fouchécourt, Mady Mesplé, Margreet Hönig and Sylvia Sass.

Jeanne Crousaud performed in L'Histoire vraie de la Périchole by Jacques Offenbach staged by Julie Brochen at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, she interpreted Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire and she sang Motets by Daniel Danielis at the Cité de la Musique and the solo soprano part in Ein deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms. She played the title role in La fille d’opéra by Germaine Tailleferre staged by Mireille Larroche and played the part of Najade in the opera Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss staged by André Engel at the Royaumont Abbey. She also played the part of Musette in an adaptation of La Bohème by Giacomo Puccini staged by Vincent Vittoz at the Reine blanche Theatre, of Aspasia in Mitridate, Rè di Ponto by W.A. Mozart conducted by David Reiland and staged by Vincent Vittoz. In 2012, she joined Lyons Opera Studio and played the part of Ciboulette in the operetta buffa Mesdames de la Halle by Jacques Offenbach conducted by Jean-Paul Fouchécourt and staged by Jean Lacornerie. This operetta was also performed in the opera houses of Besançon and Orléans.

Jeanne Crousaud performed as a soloist singer with Ensemble Baroque de Toulouse, playing the part of Love in Orfeo ed Euridice by Glück. She also sang in J.S. Bach's Magnificat (BWV 243) and in Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria with this baroque orchestra. She played Motets de Campra in Bucharest with the Ensemble Desmarest and in numerous festivals like La Chaise-Dieu, Les Folles Journées de Nantes, La Roque d'Anthéron, the Sablé Festival as well as the Saintes Festival with the Ensemble Pygmalion directed by Raphaël Pichon and Les Cris de Paris directed by Geoffroy Jourdain.

Interested in the contemporary repertoire, Jeanne Crousaud created and recorded Requiem, the new work by Frédéric Ledroit, at the Madeleine church, she sang in the opera Cachafaz by Oscar Strasnoy, she embodied the main character in L'appel d'Ereshkigal by Benjamin Attahir and she also played in original works for voices and saxophone.

During the 2014-2015 season, Jeanne Crousaud plaued the role of Ernestine in Monsieur Choufleuri restera chez lui by Jacques Offenbach, of Flavie in L'élixir d’Hervé with the company Les Frivolités Parisiennes, sang the part of the shepherdess in Pastorale by Benjamin Attahir and she played the main part in Le Petit Prince by Michaël Lévinas in the opera houses of Lausanne, Geneva, Lille, Dunkirk and at the Châtelet Theatre in Paris.
