The Croatian mezzo-soprano, Nina Cuk, graduated in opera singing under the guidance of mezzo-soprano Paola Fornasari Patti at Conservatorio di Verona F.Dall’Abaco and in Baroque singing with soprano Cristina Miatello at the Conservatorio di Verona.
Nina Cuk has been intensely active in the field of Baroque music with participation in important festivals such as Gregorio Strozzi (2009, 2010), Festival de Música Antigua de Daroca (2008, 2010, Spain), Spazio e Musica and Grandezze e Meraviglie 2012 singing as a soloist in J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 119 and Platti's Miserere under the direction of Maestro Alfredo Bernardini. Her voice is particularly suited to the Baroque and late Baroque repertoire and to all the “en travesti” roles.
In March 2010, Nina Cuk sang the roles of the Sorceress and Aeneas in H. Purcell's Dido and Aeneas in Pescara and Chieti, under the direction Sandro Naglia. In 2012 she could be seen again as the Sorceress in H. Purcell's Dido and Aeneas in Villach (Austria). In June 2012, she sang the roles of Cassandra and Ecuba in F. Cavalli's opera Didone. In March 2013, she recorded a CD dedicated to rediscovered Veronese music, singing cantata by D. Zanata and in May of the same year for the magazine Amadeus singing as contralto soloist Ferruccio Busoni's Messa and Stabat Mater. In 2013 she sang Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria at the Duomo di Desenzano with Solisti Veneti directed by Claudio Scimone. In 2014 she sang as alto soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah at S. Bernardino and in César Franck's Mass in A major at Basilica of S. Zeno in Verona. In 2015 she sang Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater at the Duomo di Desenzano and at the Basilica di S. Zeno in Verona with the Ned Ensemble. She currently lives in Verona, Italy. |
