The Swedish tenor, Anders J. Dahlin, studied at the Music Conservatory in Falun in Sweden, at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo, and at the Royal Danish Academy of Opera in Copenhagen.
Already in 1998 he made his operatic debut at the Norweigan National Opera where he acclaimed much success for his interpretation of Tom Wingfield in Tennessee Williams’ the Glassmenagerie composed by Antinio Bibalo. In recent years he has become one of the leading interpreters of the early French Baroque music.
Anders Dahlin regularly work with conductors such as Christophe Rousset, Hervé Niquet, Marc Minkowski, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Manfred Honeck, William Christie, Adam Fischer, Frans Brüggen, Alessandro de Marchi, Philippe Herreweghe, Robert King, Philip Pickett, Stephen Layton, Andreas Spering, Christoph Spering, Eric Ericson, Tõnu Kaljuste, Philippe Pierlot, Eric Hull, Antony Walker, Antony Walker, Mark Tatlow and Roy Goodman.
Anders Dahlin has appeared in opera houses such as the Netherlands Opera, Opéra de Lyon, Théâtre des Champs-Elysées Paris, Opéra Comique Paris, Théâtre du Capitole Toulouse, Opéra de Nancy, Opéra de Montpellier, Opéra de Bordeaux, Théâtre de Nimes, Opéra de Lausanne, Teatro Cervantes Malaga, Oper Kiel, Theater Bad Lauchstädt and Drottningholm Theatre Stockholm.
His opera roles include the title role in Rameau’s Zoroastre (at Drottningholm theatre in Stockholm and in Amsterdam directed by Pierre Audi and conducted by Christophe Rousset), the title role in Rameau’s Platée (at the opera in Kiel with conductor Christoph Spering), Atis in Rameau’s Les Paladins (with William Christie and Les Arts Florissants), Carlos and Tacmas in Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes (with conductor Frans Brüggen in Holland, Italy and Poland), Castor in Rameau’s Castor et Pollux, David in Charpentier’s David et Jonathan, Coridon and Un Insulaire in Lully’s Roland (at the theater in Lausanne under Christophe Rousset), Adraste in Marin Marais' Sémélé (at the opera in Montpellier with Hervé Niquet and Le Consert Spirituel), Un Habitant / Un Plaisir in Henry Desmarest’s Venus et Adonis (at the Opéra de Nancy under Christophe Rousset), Nutrice / Lucano / Soldato / Tribunale in Monteverdi’s L'Incoronazione di Poppea (in Lyon under William Christie and in Toulouse under Christophe Rousset), Pastore 1 / Eco in Monteverdi’s L’Orfeo, Telemaco in Monteverdi’s Il Ritorno d'Ulisse, Ombre dell’inferno in Monteverdi’s Il ballo delle ingrate, Oberon, The Chinese man and Phoebus in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen (in Bilbao and Salamanca under Christophe Rousset), to mention just a few. He has also sung a number of roles in contemporary operas.
Anders Dahlin is a much sought after concert singer with a large repertoire, and he regularly sings with major orchestras throughout Europe. He has received enormous acclaim for the Evangelist in J.S. Bach’s Passions, for his interpretation of the tenor soloist in Benjamin Britten’s Serenade for tenor, horn and strings, and in the high French Baroque music.
As a concert singer Anders Dahlin has appeared at Tonhalle Zürich, Théatre des Champs-Elysées Paris, Salle Pleyel Paris, Auditorium de Lyon, Opéra Royal Versailles, Palais des Beaux Arts Brussels, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, De Doelen Rotterdam, Konzerthaus Berlin, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Philharmonie Cologne, Royal Albert Hall London, St John's Smith Square London, Philharmonic Hall Liverpool, Teatro de la Maestranza Sevilla, Auditorio Zaragoza, Auditorio de Galica Santiago di Compostella, Palacio dela Opera La Coruña, National Theater Warsaw, Oslo Concert Hall, Berwald Hallen Stockholm, and the Danish Radio Concert Hall.
Other successful concerts inlude Telemaco and Humana Fragilita in Moteverdi's Il Ritorno d’Ulisse at cité de la Musique, Paris with Christophe Rousset and Les Talens Lyriques, Haydn's Die Schöpfung in Le Mans with Hervé Niquet. Recently he sang the role of Castor in Rameau’s Castor and Pollux with sir John Eliot Gardiner in Salle Pleyel and a similar Rameau programme at the Proms in Royal Albert Hall with great success.
2009 has started with concerts with music by Purcell and George Frideric Handel in London, Paris and Brussels with Marc Minkowski, the title role in Rameau’s Zoroastre at Opéra Comique in Paris, concerts in Vienna and Paris with arias by Rameau with Christophe Rousset, and Charpentier’s Leçons de Ténèbres in London, Versailles and Bilbao with Christophe Rousset. Forthcoming events include L’Athlète and Mercure in Rameau’s Castor and Pollux at The Netherlands Opera and La Monnaie in Brussels.
