The German bass-baritone, Thilo Dahlmann, studied voice under Ulf Bästlein, Berthold Schmid, Guido Baehr and Wolfgang Millgramm at the Folkwang-Hochschule Essen, where he passed his concert examination with distinction in 2007. His collaboration with Roland Hermann also contributed significantly to his formation as a vocalist. In 2004 he won the first prize at the North Rhine-Westphalia State Competition.
During the 2006-2007 season Thilo Dahlmann was a member of the International Opera Studio of the Zürich Opera House, where he performed many roles. The young bass baritone has guested at the Deutschen Oper am Rhein in Düsseldorf, Wuppertaler Bühnen, Theater Koblenz and Theater St. Gallen (Notturno/Schoeck)
Thilo Dahlmann has sung important bass-baritone roles in Germany and abroad under conductors such as Helmuth Rilling, Peter Neumann, Franz Welser-Möst, Nello Santi, Philippe Jordan, Helmut Müller-Brühl, Andreas and Christoph Spering, Masaaki Suzuki and Ralf Otto. Concerts have taken him to the Kölner Philharmonie, Essener Philharmonie, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Arsénal Metz, Tonhallen Zürich, Tonhalle Düsseldorf Tonhalle, Tokyo International Forum and Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
DVD-Productions by the Zürcher Opernhauses and radio (DLF, DW, hr, WDR, France musique), television (arte) and CD productions (cpo) are also among his performance credits.
Thilo Dahlmann is currently an instructor in voice at the Musikhochschule Köln, Wuppertal Division. Among the singers who have studied with him and/or attended his master-classes: Simon Amend (Baritone), Julie Grutzka (Soprano). |
