The American tenor, Paul Hellmuth Dieke, born the son of Hellmuth H. and Elizabeth (Warren) Dieke on May 9, 1936 in Binghamton, New York, where he started his career in the Opera. After moving to Des Moines, Iowa, he expanded his love of the Arts by becoming Director and Musical Director of many stage productions including: Ragtime, The Wizard of Oz, Evita, Annie Get Your Gun, Nunsense and Reefer Madness. In addition to leading the hymn sing at the Iowa State Fair, he was a judge at the Bill Riley's Talent Competition.
Paul Dieke passed on May 4, 2010, at the age of 73, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. He is survived by his lifetime companion, Dennis Patten of Des Moines. |
