The American soprano, Emily Donato, obtained her Associate's degree, Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies (August 2010-May 2012) and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music (August 2012-May 2014) from Bard College; and her Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music (2017-2019). She was awarded First Prize at Lyndon-Woodside Oratorio Competition in New York City (2021); was Finalist at Laffont Metropolitan Opera Competition Qualifying in Boston (2022); and was awarded First Prize at Handel Aria Competition in Madison, Wisconsin (2023).
Emily Donato performed in 2019 J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 82A Ich Habe Genug with Masaaki Suzuki at the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence in New York City. She performed in Juilliard415's 2019 Scandinavian Tour. In 2021, she appeared as soloist in Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass on Yale Schola Cantorum. She appeared as a soloist J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 with Musica Sacra at St John the Divine, and Voices of Ascension led by Dennis Keene (2022).
Emily Donato appeared most recently as soprano soloist at Carnegie Hall in Gabriel Fauré's Requiem (2025), St. Thomas Fifth Avenue in George Frideric Handel’s Messiah (2024), and in J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 with the Colorado Bach Ensemble (2025). She was a member of the 2023 Virginia Best Adams Quartet at the Carmel Bach Festival. She made her Carnegie Hall Stern Auditorium solo debut in May 2023 in J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 with the Oratorio Society of New York conducted by Kent Tritle, and. She has also worked with conductors David Hill, Nicholas McGegan, Jeffrey Douma, Simon Carrington and Leon Botstein. |
