The Filipino Voice Symphony (= FVS) or “FaVS” in short, is an all-Filipino community choir established in 2009 by Singapore-based Filipinos who are drawn together by their passion for music. The choir’s membership consists of Filipinos who came from different choral and professional backgrounds.
For the past ten years, FaVS has been performing choral works in various events in Singapore. Among the group’s notable performances were staged at The Esplanade - Theatres by the Bay, The Esplanade Concourse, SOTA Studio Theatre and Aliwal Arts Centre. Since 2010, the group has been under the musical direction of Gladys Torrado.
In 2010, FaVS eagerly took on a different challenge by joining the Singapore A Cappella Championships under the Pop Choir Category and won first place. The Filipino Association of Singapore, shortly thereafter, awarded FaVS a certificate of recognition for the group’s achievement in the field of performing arts.
Believing that music transcends languages and cultural barriers, FaVS continuously explores the different sounds, colors, and styles of various musical pieces as reflected in the group’s repertoire of classical, contemporary pop, folk, traditional, sacred, and Original Pilipino Music (OPM). |
