The Hungarian soprano, Katalin Farkas, received her vocal training in Budapest.
Since 1982 Katalin Farkas sang at the Budapest National Opera. There, she sang many coloratura parts, such as Rosina in Barber of Seville, Sophie in Massenet's Werther, Frasquita in Carmen, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos by R. Strauss and Blondchen in Entführung aus dem Serail by Mozart (1987). In 1985 she appeared at the Glyndebourne Festival as Zdenka in the Richard Strauss' opera Arabella, in 1986-1987 at the Festival of Göttingen in Don Sanches by Franz Liszt and as Amaryllis in Il pastor fido by Mozart, in 1990 in Floridante by George Frideric Handel. Other guest performances were at the Teatro San Carlo Naples, in Switzerland and Spain.
Katalin Farkas' stage repertoire is complemented by roles as Marzellina in Fidelio, Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana and Giannetta in Donizetti's Elisir d'amore. Her achievements include also wide-ranging repertoire as a concert singer.
