Elisabeth Feldt (Soprano)

Born: Sweden

The Swedish soprano, Elisabeth Feldt, received her education at the music academies in Gothenburg, Örebro and Piteå. Initially, she trained as a church musician. After that, she studied solo singing and singing methodology. Dorothy Irving and Matti Hirvonen were of great importance during the training. She has participated in master-classes and courses and received valuable guidance from Birgitta Svendén, Helena Döse, Olle Persson, Loa Falkman, Paul Farrington, Kevin Smith, Barbro Marklund and Gunnel Bergström.

Elisabeth Feldt is a classical singer who works in church music and concerts. Her repertoire is rich and varied, as is her stylistic breadth. She moves with ease from Baroque and classicism over romance and modernism to completely newly written music. She has performed as a soloist in a number of church musical works such as J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232, Johannes-Passion BWV 245, Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, Himmelfahrtsoratorium BWV 11 and among many other J.S. Bach cantatas Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen BWV 51 and Ich habe genug BWV 82, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Gloria and Il pianto di Maria; Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's and Haydn's Stabat mater, Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria; W.A. Mozart's Exsultate Jubilate and C minor Mass; Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem; Johan Helmich Roman's Den Svenska Messan; Gabriel Fauré's and Maurice Duruflé's Requiems; Larsson's Förklädd gud; Felix Mendelssohn's Paulus, Psalm 42 and Hear my prayer; Hovland's Du så me and Fredrik Sixten's En svensk Markuspassion.

As a romance artist, Elisabeth Feldt has many times presented well-crafted and surprising program concepts; many times and preferably together with the pianist Mikael Holmlund. People around Sweden have had concert experiences with chamber music associations and other organizers with songs by Alban Berg, Johannes Brahms, Marx, Schubert, Clara Schumann, Robert Schumann, Strauss, Wagner, Debussy, Francis Poulenc, Messiaen, Satie, Sergei Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, Frumerie, Grieg, Larsson, Linde, Nystroem, Peterson-Berger, Rangström, Sibelius, Sörenson, Sjögren and Stenhammar. She has participated as a soprano soloist in the premiere of several newly written works. In May 2012, she sang in the premiere of Maria Löfberg's Himmelsfärdsoratorium Herre över allting (Ascension Oratorio Lord of All).

Elisabeth Feldt has devoted much time to teaching and is an experienced and appreciated educator. During the years 2006 to 2017, she was a permanent employee at Helsjöns folkhögskola (Gothenburg diocese). Since 2017, she has been teaching at S:ta Elisabets folkhögskola (St. Elisabet's Folk High School) in Gothenburg and in her own studio.
