The German lyric/coloratura soprano, Ilse Fenger, was born in Würzburg and grew up in Landau in the Palatinate. She studied concert and opera singing at the Peter-Cornelius Konservatorium in Mainz. She completed her training with master-classes with Margreet Honig in Amsterdam, Gerhild Romberger, Konrad Jarnot, Hans-Josef Kasper and Werner Güra. With the accompanist Reinild Mees (Amsterdam) she works on concert and Lied programs. In 2004 she received a scholarship from the Richard-Wagner-Verbandes International.
As a soloist in oratorios, Ilse Fenger sings the major roles in her field with the Würzburger Madrigalchor, Wörrstadter Kantorei Kantorei Alt- Barmbek in Hamburg, Stuttgart's JSB Ensemble, and Telemann-Chor Ingelheim. Her favorite roles are rich with high notes and coloratura, such as George Frideric Handel's Messiah and W.A. Mozart's C minor Mass.
In 2011 Ilse Fenger could be heard at various festivals such as the Internationalen Kissinger Sommer and the Herbstlichen Musiktagen Bad Urach. In 2012 her focus was on J.S. Bach's Passions (BWV 244, BWV 245) and the B minor Mass (BWV 232). She was allowed to develop and perform these as part of the Bachwoche Stuttgart with Helmuth Rilling. With her trio (soprano, violin and organ) she regularly gives concerts in Germany's concert halls. She was a guest at the Leinsweiler Musikwochen 2011 with G.F. Handel's 9 German arias. |
