The Swiss mezzo-soprano, Irène Friedli, studied with Kurt Widmer at the Musikakademie in Basel, where she finished in 1991 with the soloist diploma. She completed her studies in the interpretation class of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau in Berlin, participated in master-class of Brigitte Fassbaender, and won several prizes with international singing competitions. At present she continues her training with Helen Keller.
In the 1993-1994 season Irène Friedli was a guest at the Stadttheater Luzern. Since 1994-1995 she is ensemble member of the Opernhaus of Zürich, where her main roles have been Gertrude in Roméo et Juliette, Suzuki, 2nd and 3rd Ladies in Zauberflöte, Mercédès in Carmen, title hero in Ravel's Kind und die Zauberwelt, Elisabeth in Schlafes Bruder, Tisbe in La Cenerentola, Annina in La Traviata, Flosshilde, Polina and Hänsel.
As a Lieder and oratorio singer Irène Friedli have sung in her homeland and abroad and made also CD and radio recordings. A special emphasis of her work applies for the contemporary music. |
