The American soprano, Cheryl Greene, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Sacred Music and her Master of Music degree in Voice Performance from the Bob Jones University; and her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of South Carolina (USC) (2002), where she studied with Gene Ferguson. She was a part of Opera at USC from 1990-1991 and 1998-2000. She is also a certified teacher in Somatic Voicework The LoVetri Method..
Cheryl Greene has taught at the university level for 30 years, and has sung in local theatre and chorus productions. Some of her operatic and musical theatre roles include Bersi in Andrea Chénier, Georgette in Il Tabarro, Second Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Madame Lidoine in Francis Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites, Lady Billows in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring, Donna Elvira in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Fairy God Mother in Cinderella, Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music and the Wardrobe in Beauty and the Beast. Regionally, she has appeared in productions with the Greenville Chorale, Tryon Community Chorus, Fountain Inn Orchestra, South Carolina Children’s Theatre, Greenville Opera, Asheville Lyric Opera Company, and Bob Jones University Symphony Orchestra.
Cheryl Greene is Professor of Music and Coordinator of Voice at at North Greenville University. She gives courses in the Voice Performance degree including Diction for Singers, Voice Literature, Opera and Music Theatre Workshop, and Applied Voice Lessons. Degrees. She has also musically directed and produced numerous concerts, musicals and operas at North Greenville University, including Cinderella, Love in the Spotlight, She Loves Me, Little Women, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's La Serva Padrona, 1940s Radio Hour, and Three One-Act Christmas Operas: Good King Wenceslas, The Shepherd’s Play, St. Nicholas, Seasons of Love: An Evening of Love Letters and Love Songs and Brigadoon. She lives in Taylors, South Carolina with her aussiedoodle Sadie - and enjoys knitting and working in her garden. |
