The German trumpet player and teacher, Wolfgang Guggenberger, was 1st prize winner at the national competition "Jugend musiziert" and won the "Europäischen Preis" of the national music competitions for young people. In 1978 he distinguished himself as a prize-winner at the renowned "Deutschen Musikwettbewerb" in Bonn. His career was framed by numerous scholarships and cultural sponsorship awards. He completed his studies at the Richard Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich with Rolf Quinque and at the Musikhochschule in Trossingen with Professor Horst-Dieter Bolz with distinction. Forward-looking and artistically formative for him was a two-year intensive study in Chicago with Professor Vincent Cichowicz, Adolph Herseth and Arnold Jacobs.

From 1986 to 2005, Wolfgang Guggenberger was a trumpet teacher and head of the brass and percussion department at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munich. In 2005, he was appointed Professor for trumpet at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen. Since 2018 he has also been a guest Professor in the trumpet class at the Norwegian Music Academy in Oslo.

As a member of the artist list of the Deutschen Musikrates, Wolfgang Guggenberger has performed as a soloist with many renowned German cultural orchestras. Concert tours and master classes have taken him to many European countries as well as to Georgia, South East Asia, America and Mexico. In addition to numerous radio recordings, Wolfgang Guggenberger has released three CD's with solo and chamber music.

In 2004 his studies for 1 or 2 trumpets Basics Plus (Rundel Music Publications) were published, which belong to the standard repertoire of brass pedagogy.
