The German tenor, Manuel Günther, studied since 2006 at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden with KS Thomas Thomaschke and Piotr Bednarski and has been a member of the Dresdner Kammerchor under the direction of Hans-Christoph Rademann.
Manuel Günther has performed at several houses at an early age as the Theater Hof, Theater Nordhausen, Theater Rudolstadt,, the Kleinen Haus des Sächsischen Staatsschauspiels, and the Sächsischen Staatsoper Dresden. He also had experience in various summer opera productions such as the Lausitzer Opernsommer, the Thüringer Schlossfestspielen Sondershausen and the Internationalen Festival junger Sänger der Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg. Here he performed such roles as Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Baron Kronthal in Lortzing’s Der Wildschütz, youngest brother / Prince (C. A. Cui Der gestiefelte Kater) and smaller roles in the operas Alcina by George Frideric Handel, Luther by Rudolf Baumgartner and Gadzo - Eine Zigeuneroper by J. Wulff Woesten.
In oratorio and concerts Manuel Günther has worked with conductors such as here Ekkehard Klemm and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos (Dresdner Philharmonie) together. Known ioratorios as as Felix Mendelssohn's Paulus, G.F. Handel's Messiah, J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248 and The Creation by J. Haydn are part of his repertoire.
In 2010 he was winner of the 20th Internationalen Gesangswettbewerb der Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg and a finalist at the 39th Bundeswettbewerb Gesang Berlin. Upcoming engagements in 2012 include the Komische Oper Berlin, the Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris and the Young Singers Project at the Salzburg Festival. |
