Annina Haug (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Switzerland

The Swiss mezzo-soprano, Annina Haug, studied at Conservatoire de Musique de Neuchâtel; obtained her post-graduate degree in Singing from the Royal Academy of Music (October 2006-June 2008), and Hochschule Luzern (Class of 2010). She was a prize-winner at the Léopold Bellan International Competition (Paris).

Annina Haug has been a freelance musician since December 2008. She has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras and ensembles, including the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Orchestre Symphonique de Lucerne, Basel Sinfonietta, Orchestre Musique des Lumières, Orchestre de Chambre de Genève, Musikkollegium de Winterthur, Ensemble Symphonique Neuchâtelois, Orchestre Symphonique de Bienne, and Capriccio Barockorchester.

Annina Haug performs many major works from the oratorio repertoire - such as J.S. Bach’s Mass in B minor BWV 232, Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, Magnificat in D major BWV 243, and Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 & Johannes-Passion BWV 245; George Frideric Handel’s Messiah; Giovanni Battista Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater; W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Mass in C Minor; Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle; Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah; and the Requiems of Verdi and Maurice Duruflé - at major Swiss concert halls, including Victoria Hall in Genève, the KKL in Lucerne, the Tonhalle in Zürich, the Stadtcasino Basel, the Salle de musique in La Chaux-de-Fonds, and the Salle Métropole in Lausanne.

Annina Haug’s operatic roles include Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia, Lucretia in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia, Angelina in Cenerentola, Fenena in Nabucco, Idamante in W.A. Mozart's Idomeneo, Dido in Dido and Aeneas, Melanto/Umana Fragilità in Il ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria, Geneviève in Geneviève de Brabant, Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana, Oreste in La belle Hélène, and Dritte Dame W.A. Mozart's in Die Zauberflöte, performed at the Luzerner Theater, Opéra de Massy, ​​Théâtre Musical de Besançon, Nouvel Opéra de Fribourg, Palais des Beaux-Arts de Charleroi, Théâtre Bienne-Soleure, Opera Lirica Neuchâtel, Opéra du Rhône, and Opéra des Champs.

Annina Haug works as a singng teacher at HEMU - Haute Ecole de Musique et Conservatoire de Lausanne · since September 2024.
