The American soprano, Leslie Hochman Aiuvalasit, obtained her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance from the University of Texas at Austin (1997-2002), where she studied Bachelor of Arts Major in Mathematics; and her Master of Music in Opera from Binghamton University (2003-2005).
Leslie Hochman sang many leading and supporting roles as a resident artist with the Tri-Cities Opera (TCO) (Binghamton, New York), including the title role in The Merry Widow, for which the Ithaca Journal described her singing as “lyrically beautiful, vocally expressive, and robust.” Other roles with TCO include Mimì in La Bohème, Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Violetta in La Traviata, and Belinda in Dido and Aeneas. Leslie has also performed with Connecticut Grand Opera, Regina Opera (Brooklyn, New York), Toledo Opera, and the Caramoor Bel Canto Festival (Katonah, New York). In 2009, she made her Avery Fisher Hall solo debut in Luigi Dallapiccola's Volo di Notte with the American Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Leon Botstein. In 2014, she moved to Dallas, Texas, where she performed with the American Baroque Opera Company, Orchestra of New Spain, Dallas Bach Society, and the Dallas Opera. In 2019, moved to the Champaign-Urbana area. She made her debut in the area with Baroque Artists of Champaign-Urbana. She currently lives in Champaign, Illinois. |
