Katharina Hohlfeld-Redmond (Soprano)

Born: 1975 - Berlin, Germany

The German soprano, Katharina Hohlfeld-Redmond, was during her youth a member of the Rundfunkkinderchor Berlin (DDR), with which she had the experience of singing together on the concert stage and in the recording studio early on. Concert tours were part of the normal program, so that her current job differs from her former hobby not in terms of process, but in the degree of vocal training of all singers and above all in the repertoire. In short, one could say: from Sandman to Elias. In the meantime, she was able to escape the hustle and bustle of Berlin's big city to the small university town of Detmold in order to devote herself to her singing studies in peace. She particularly enjoyed the scenic work on the opera stage, e.g. at the Junge Kammeroper Köln and various festivals, but she really missed the long-term, consistent ensemble singing with the same people.

Katharina Hohlfeld-Redmond joined the RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin as a permanent member in 2002. She has had the opportunity there to often show herself as a soloist, such as with Andrew Manze, Tonu Kaljuste, Hans-Christoph Rademann, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Kaspars Putnins, Wolfgang Katschner. If time allows, she likes to sing the soprano parts in J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel and Felix Mendelssohn's oratorios and W.A. Mozart's masses in a church setting, and now and then she has the courage to dedicate herself as a solo soprano to world premieres by contemporary composers and to enter the field of improvisation explore.

Katharina Hohlfeld-Redmond completed her training as a mediator in March 2020 at the ImKonsens Institute (Berlin). She has a wealth of experience in the area of family and relationships. As a works council member in the RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin, she also makes her balancing nature and mediative expertise available to her musical family.
