The Canadian counter-tenor, Simon Honeyman, obtained his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English Language and Literature/Letters from Concordia University (2006-2010); and his Certificate in Publishing from Ryerson University (2013- 2015).
Simon Honeyman began his singing career at the age of nine as a treble in the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa. Since 2006, he has been working steadily as a counter-tenor, performing with ensembles such as Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal, Theatre of Early Music (Director: Daniel Taylor), Toronto Masque Theatre, Elora Festival Singers, Tafelmusik Chamber Choir and others.
While in Montreal completing his undergraduate degree in English Literature, Simon Honeyman was co-Artistic Director of one equall musick, and lent his vocal abilities to a number of academic projects, involving the performance and recording of previously unpublished English Tudor-era choral works.
Simon Honeyman has worked as Writing Assistant at Concordia University (2007-2010); Manager at Encore Books and Records (2010-2012); Editorial and Production Intern at HarperCollins Canada (April-July 2014). When not engaged with classical music, he freelances as a copy editor for trade publishers and occasionally finds time to play guitar in roots/folk and heavy metal bands. He currently lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. |
