The German tenor, Heiner Hopfner, joined He also sang and recorded with the Regensburger Domspatzen (children’s choir at the age of 8.). He sang and recorded with them and made his stage debut as a young child (Genii) in Die Zauberflöte, conducted by Georg Solti. After graduastion in 1962 from the Deutschen Gymnasium in Amberg, he studied singing at the Musikhochschule München and education at the Münchner Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. During his three years of training he won several international awards and increasingly devoted himself to his career as an opera, Lieder and concert singer.
Following that Heiner Hopfner sang on the great German music stages, including at the Bayerischen Staatsoper, and many Lieder and concert recitals. When Hopfner won the international competitions of Munich, Berlin and Geneva, his career began to transcend the limits of Germany. He appeared in England, Italy, Holland, Belgium, France, South Africa and the USA. During the late 1970’s he was the leading tenor of the Staatstheater Kassel
Heiner Hopfner collaborated during his singing career with such conductors as Benjamin Britten, Gari Bertini, Eugen Jochum, Eugen Jochum, Herbert von Karajan, Rafael Kubelík, Peter Maag, Karl Richter, Helmuth Rilling, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Hanns-Martin Schneidt and Georg Solti, to name just a few of the many. His debut in Israel was in 1979 with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Helmuth Rilling.
Since 1987, Heiner Hopfner taught singing at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. His students include Christiane Karg , Laura Schroeder, Joel Montero, Cordula Schuster, etc. He also was a jury member of the International Mozart Competition. |
