The German tenor, choral conductor and church musician, Michael Käppler, received his first piano and organ lessons in Erzgebirge. He studied church music (B level) at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Dresden - choral conducting with Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Christfried Brödel, organ literature & organ playing with Professor Martin Strohhäcker, piano with Professor Sabine Bräutigam, singing with Professor Gertrud Günther, obtaining diploma with "very good" marks (2005-2009); postgraduate studies in organ improvisation with Professor Martin Strohhäcker at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Dresden; Postgraduate Studies in Choral Conducting with Professor Hans-Christoph Rademann at the Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" in Dresden, passing his concert exam with honors (2009-2011); Church Music (A level) at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik Dresden - choral conducting grade 1.1; orchestral conducting grade 1,0, Vocals score 1.0 with distinction (2011-2013). He also attended master-classes, including: active participation in conducting master-class with Helmuth Rilling in the frame of the Internationalen Bachakademie Stuttgart 2010; active participation in the First Dresden Chorwerkstatt für Neue Musik 2009 2009 (Artistic Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann); 2009 organ master-class with Professor Wolfgang Zerer at the Gottfried Silbermann Organ of the Kathedrale Dresden; passive participation in the Internationalen Bachakademie Stuttgart 2008.
Michael Käppler has been active since his studies as a freelance conductor, organist and singer. The breadth of his artistic activities, in which he moves in instrumental, vocal and musicological fields, testify to his irrepressible interest in music - beyond clichés and firmly established traditions. He has conducted as a guest renowned choirs as RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin, SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, GewandhausChor Leipzig, MDR Rundfunkchor Leipzig. He has sung with Dresdner Kammerchor, Vocal Modern, and participazted in rehearsals of Dresdner Kammerchor, Landesjugendchor Sachsen, Kammerchor Cantamus Dresden, Thüringischer Akademischer Singkreis, Meißner Kantorei 1961.
Artistic and educational activity: 2007-2009 Chor der Hochschule für Kirchenmusik (assistant director - rehearsals | concerts | organization); 2009-2011 Kammerorchester Concentus Vocum (conductor); 2010-2013 B-church musician Dresden-Gruna-Seidnitz (Director of Kantorei, Kinderchor, Posaunenchor); 2014-2015 Singakademie Chemnitz (Assistant and Repetitor); since November 2014 A-church musician at Kirchspiel Dresden-Neustadt (Director of Kantorei and Posaunenchor); since April 2015 lecturer for choral conducting at the Universität Erfurt; from October 2015 Director of the Kammerchores der Universität Erfurt.
Special projects have included: 2014 premieres of works by Jörg Herchet (Cantata para la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe ) as a vocal soloist and Bernd Frankes (Wandel) as a chorister; 2015: Mexico tour with Dresdner Kammerchor, Armenia tour with ensemble Vocal Modern, establishment of the Konzert Werkstatt Dresden with Felix Mendelssohn's Lobgesang, invitation as guest conductor to Landesjugendchor Sachsen, collaboration with Dresdner Kammerchor (including rehearsal of J.S. Bach's B-minor Mass (BWV 232) for concerts with the Sächsischer Staatskapelle Dresden and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig). |
