The German counter-tenor, Matthias Koch, began his vocal training in 1989 with Mechthild Rieh. From 1990 to 1994 he studied in Essen and has been studying in Leipzig since October 1994. He has also attended master-classes with Barbara's Schlick and Nancy Argenta.
Matthias Koch gave his European debut at the beginning of 1994 with J.S. Bach's B minor Mass (BWV 232) under Ton Koopman in Madrid. He is a member of various well-known ensembles, including the Deutsche Bachvokalisten and the Amsterdam Baroque Choir. He has made guest appearances at international festivals such as the Händel Festival in Halle, 'Wratislawa Cantans' and at a stages performance of J.S. Bach's St. John Passion (BWV 245) in conjunction with 'Leipzig University Music'. |
