The German tenor, Sebastian Köchig, studied with Ingeborg Hallstein and Cheryl Studer at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg, where he obtained his Diploma and State Certified Music Teacher in Singing (2002-2007); and with Marjana Lipovšek at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, where he received Award in Lied and Oratorio (2008-2011). In 2007 he received a scholarship from the Richard-Wagner-Verband Würzburg, from October 2009 to June 2011 he was a scholarship holder of the Thyll-Dürr-Stiftung. In 2016, he studied Culture and Media Management at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.
During his studied in Vienna, Sebastian Köchig was engaged as subsitute in the Wiener Staatsopernchor at Salzburger Festspiele (July-September 2009), and also in the Zusatzchor of the Wiener Staatsoper (January-September 2009). After his studies he was engaged as tenor at Mainfrankentheater Würzburg (October 2011-August 2012), and at Staatstheater Darmstadt (August 2012-Aug 2013). Since September 2013, he sings 1st tenor in the Opernchor of the Staatstheater Nürnberg. As a much-sought-after Lied and concert singer, he has given concerts, including. already at the Philharmonie Essen, Wiener Konzerthaus, Wiener Musikverein and Mozartfest Würzburg. He has collaborated with renowned orchestras such as the Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz and the Wiener Akademie. In addition to the classical concert repertoire, he cultivates his great passion, the black-humored Chanson by Georg Kreisler. With this program he has been performing for more than ten years in the entire German-speaking area. |
