The Dutch soprano and actress, Dana Koppes, knew from a very young age that she belonged on stage. Her passion and love for music and theatre were therefore her driving force behind studying at the conservatory. She graduated from the Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg in 2020, specializing in Classical Music Theatre. This unique program shaped her into a versatile singer and actress, receiving lessons from renowned artists. Dana also specialized in various dance styles, including classical ballet, character dance, show dance, and tap dance. In 2024, she completed her Master of Music at Codarts Rotterdam, where she studied with baritone Henk Neven. She also participated in several master-classes and lessons at home and abroad, with Margreet Honig, Elizabeth Ramos Gonçalves, Fréderic Rubay, Monique Wagemakers, Jard van Nes, and Sasja Hunnego, among others. In 2021, she received the Culture Prize for Emerging Talent from the Stichting de Steunmast. The committee was impressed by her singing voice, enthusiasm, and drive.
As a soloist, Dana Koppes has performed works including Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 and Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, and Gustav Mahler's Das Lamentende Lied. In November 2024, she made her solo debut at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam with the latter work. She also regularly performs her graduation piece, Ik wil zijn gelukkig (I want to be happy), about the life of Fien de La Mar, and her own mini-opera, Roos de operazangeres (Roos the opera singer). In 2022, she sang at the official opening of the year commemorating the birth of the Netherlands (1572) in Brielle, in the presence of His Majesty the King. |
