After discovering his alto voice he was supported by Scot Weir, Stewart Emerson and Wolfram Rieger in the first steps in singing as a counter-tenor, at the same academy. In order to specialize in the authentic approach towards 'early' music he continued his studies at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague working with Michael Chance, Peter Kooy, Jill Feldman, Rita Dams and Diane Forlano.
