The German soprano, Petrina Kruse, completed her training in Mannheim and was first engaged as an apprentice at the Nationaltheater Mannheim.
In 1954 Petrina Kruse was accepted as a soloist in the ensemble of the Nationaltheater Mannheim. She stayed in Mannheim until 1963; then went on to the Stadttheater of Heidelberg, but after the 1964-1965 season withrew from the stage, but continued to
perform in the concert hall, especially as an oratorio singer. In Mannheim she had in 1954 been involved in the world premiere of Gerhard Wimberger's Schaubudengeschichte; in 1961 in the premiere of
Paul Hindemith's Das lange Weihnachtsmahl. From her stage repertoire: Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Despina in Così fan tutte, Annie in Freischütz, Micaela in Carmen, Antonia in Hoffmanns Erzählungen, Mimi in La Bohème, Sophie in Rosenkavalier and the title role in Offenbach's operetta Madame Favart.
Petrina Kruse was married to the Mannheimer Nationaltheater's director Hans-Georg Gitschel. |
