The Canadian mezzo-soprano, Josée Lalonde Perso, has obtained Bachelor degree fin singing and music teaching. She received private singing lessons with Jan Simons.
Josée Lalonde moves from one musical style to another with astonishing ease, as demonstrated by her richly contrasted artistic experience. She has appeared as soloist with several renowned classical ensembles such as Les Idées heureuses (Director: Geneviève Soly), Ensemble Caprice (Director: Matthias Maute), Constantinople (Kiya and Ziya Tabassian), the Theatre of Early Music (Director: Daniel Taylor), and Ensemble Masques (Director: Olivier Fortin). Her work with the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal (since 1993; Director: Christopher Jackson), Viva Voce (Peter Schubert), MSO chorus, Les Voix Baroques (Director: Matthew White), Ottawa Bach Choir (Director: Lisette Canton), Tafelmusik Chamber Choir and Toronto Consort and as a chorister with the choir of Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (since 1989), Opéra de Montréal, and Les Violons du Roy (La Chapelle de Québec, since 2015; Director: Bernard Labadie) further attest to her love of many different styles of music.
Josée Lalonde has participated in several World Beat concerts with Karen Young, with whom she also recorded the albums Canticum Canticorum (2000) and Âme, corps et désir (2007). In addition, she has lent her voice to the movie soundtrack of La nuit du déluge (Gaëtan Gravel et Serge Laforest, 1996).
Other examples of her wide-ranging skills include several projects with Cirque du Soleil (Kâ, Corteo, Zed), Cirque Éloize (Nebbia) and Cirque Knie (Fascination), as well as a solo role in the Montréal production of Howard Shore’s The Lord of the Rings (2004).
