Bart van Lieshout (Tenor)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch tenor and designer, Bart van Lieshout, obtained his Master of Science degree in architecture from Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment Delft Universtity of Tecnology, graduating Cum Laude (with honours) (1995-2003). He trained by Hans van Heiningen and received master-classes from Nienke Oostenrijk and Werner van Mechelen. Nico van der Meel coached him for the role of Evengelist in the J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245 and Matthäus-Passion BWV 244. He is currently coached by Maria Acda.

Bart van Lieshout first performed in the boys choir of J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244. His first solo performance followed soon with the role of the small Nicolas in Benjamin Britten’s Saint Nicolas. In his teens, he was on stage in musical and opera projects, including B. Britten's Noah’s Flood and Leonard Bernstein’s West Side Story, where he played the role of Tony.

During college, Bart van Lieshout performed on a regular basis as a soloist in works of (among others) J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart, Francis Poulenc, Samuel Barber, Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Rachmaninov and Janáček. Next to these oratorium performances with orchestra, he participated in numerous chamber music concerts with a wide range of repertoire from opera to lied cycles as Schubert’s Winterreise and Gustav Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn.

Bart van Lieshout toured Hungary with Krashna Musika as a baritone soloist in Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem and performed the tenor solo in Dvořák’s Te Deum during high mass in the Stephansdom in Vienna. In recent years, he sang W.A. Mozart’s Requiem, J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 and the Maria Vespers by Claudio Monteverdi, next to his annual performances as Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245 and Matthäus-Passion BWV 244.

Bart van Lieshout has worked as webdesigner (1998-2012); architect at architectenbureau Cepezed BV (2003-August 2013); design team manager at User Intelligence • Customer Experience Company (July 2013-June 2016); UX Architect / Strategic Designer / Co-Founder at Mbstudio (since April 2016).
