The German mezzo-soprano, Christel Lötzsch [Loetzsch], began her vocal studies at the age of 7 in Karlsruhe. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" in Weimar, Germany and since October 2010 at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatorio in Milan, Italy. Working intensely with Dame Gwyneth Jones and Kammersängerin Brigitte Fassbaender she is developing a wide repertoire including the W.A. Mozart and Rossini roles like Zerlina, Cherubino, Sesto, Dorabella, Rosina, Isabella as well as heavier repertoire like Charlotte or Leonora in La Favorita. Her voice sounds also beautifully in trouser roles like Composer in Ariadne auf Naxos, Octavian in Der Rosenkavailer and Romeo in I Capuleti e i Montecchi.
Christel Lötzsch made a phenomenal USA operatic debut in June-July 2013 at San Francisco Opera with Dorabella in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte. In summer of 2012 she made her debut in Italy as Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, directed by Franco Zeffirelli at the Arena di Verona, conducted by Daniel Oren. In the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 season she has been a member of the Semperoper Dresden, where she did a strong respected Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia conducted by Josep Caballè-Domenech (January-July 2014), and debuted likewise as Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro (August-October 2013) and Hänsel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel (December 2013). In May 2014 she did her first Verdi Requiem. |
