The American soprano and actress, Eileen Mager, studied voice with Marie S. Kraft at the Cleveland Institute of Music, with Julia LeVine in Chicago, and with John Merwin in Scottsdale.
Eileen Mager began singing professionally in Chicago, moved with her husband to California, and then to Arizona in 1982. She has been performing solo recitals in Arizona for the past sixteen years. She is one of that rare breed: a recitalist. She is a leading performer for the Arizona Vivaldi Festivals, and a frequent solo performer in Arizona churches and concert venues. She also has appeared as featured soloist with the Arizona chamber choir Cantemus, the Desert Foothills Choral Foundation, and in many Phoenix venues; and is soloist for Christ Episcopal Church in Carefree.
Eileen Mager was the Artistic Director of the 2000-2001 Arizona Vivaldi Festival, the director of the Festival's American Premiere performance of La Fida Ninfa, and a featured soloist at the original Arizona Vivaldi Festival in 1998. In the fall and winter of 2001-2002 she performed in a series of solo concerts, plus the world premiere of Balkis, with music by James DeMars, libretto by Michel Sarda.
Her repertoire is very broad - ranging from opera to jazz, Broadway to folk, classical religious works to spirituals and gospel. Her performances have included works of more than 80 composers, and she has sung in 15 languages.
Eileen Mager has recorded three solo CD’s, all on Eroica Classical: “Christmas Treasures” (1999), a collection of little-known Christmas carols from around the world; “Classic French Songs" (2001) featuring classical and classic pop French songs; and ”Broadway: Love and Laughter” (2003), a collection of great Broadway songs, both serious and comic, dealing with various aspects of love. Her other CD albums: “Vivaldi a Due Voce” (2001), “Operatic Vivaldi: Passion, Intrigue, Revenge & Joy” (2003), “Jazzin’ Around” (2007), “Songs of Life” (2010). |
