The American baritone and music teacher, Dareion Malone, has been singing and playing piano since early childhood. He studied in Byhalia (Class of 1997); Music Education/Voice at City Colleges of Chicago (2008-2009). He received the Bachelor of Music Education from University of North Carolina (UNC) at Charlotte (August 2009-May 2013). He also holds the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi (Class of 2001).
Dareion Malone has performed nationally and internationally, including West Africa, South Africa, and Europe. His stage credits include performances with Celine Dion, Dolly Parton, and other mainstream recording artists. His baritone voice has been featured in numerous ensembles as well as principal opera roles. He has appeared as a soloist with the Charlotte Symphony and Chorus as well as other regional ensembles. Works have included J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244),George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, and Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem.
As an active member of the Charlotte community and an advocate for music education, Dareion Malone holds membership in the National Association for Music Education, American Choral Directors Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity of America, Inc. He is also a board member for Charlotte Concerts and the founder and co-artistic director of Sine Nomine Vocal Ensemble.
Dareion Malone worked at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (2013-2016). In addition to his roles as Chorus Master and Men's Chorus accompanist at UNC Charlotte (since 2014), he is the choral music and piano instructor at Marvin Ridge High School in Waxhaw (since 2016). Much of his time is given to creating ways to provide access to quality music education for all students, especially those situated in areas that have been marginalized. He currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina. |
