The English counter-tenor, David Martin, studied singing at Trinity College of Music with Nicholas Clapton and currently studies with Sheila Barnes.
David Martin is a Lay Vicar in the Westminster Abbey Choir and in addition travels internationally performing with most of the UK’s leading period ensembles and consorts, including The Tallis Scholars (Director: Peter Phillips), Cardinall’s Musick, Dunedin Consort, Binchois Consort, The Sixteen, Ensemble Plus Ultra, Gabrieli Consort and Tenebrae. He his Covent Garden debut with the Royal Opera in April 2009 in the highly acclaimed double bill of Dido & Aeneas and Acis & Galatea.
David Martin is regularly in demand as a concert soloist and made his USA solo debut in February 2006 performing the role of Christus in Trond F Kverno’s setting of J.S. Bach'S St Matthew Passion (BWV 244) in New York City.
David Martin became Artistic Director of Ensemble Plus Ultra in late 2011. |
