The Dutch tenor and music teacher, Aart Mateboer, obtained his final diploma in solo singing in 1993 at the Conservatory in Zwolle (1987-1993), where he studied with Constantijn Huygens, Cilly Dorhout and Felix Schoonenboom. He was then coached for many years by Hanneke Kaasschieter.

Aart Mateboer is a much sought-after soloist, particularly with oratorio choirs. His repertoire includes arias from J.S. Bach's Passions, Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), Hohe Messe (BWV 232), a large number of J.S. Bach cantatas; George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Alexander's Feast and Judas Maccabeus; Haydn's Schöpfung and Jahreszeiten; Felix Mendelssohn's Paulus and Elias; Masses by W.A. Mozart; Verdi's Requiem; Puccini's Messa di Gloria; Rossini's Messe Solennelle and Stabat Mater; Benjamin Britten's Nicolas Cantata; Ramirez's Misa Criolla and Navidad Nuestra and many other (also contemporary) oratorios. He also sings the role of the Evangelist in the St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), St. John Passion (BWV 245), St. Mark Passion (BWV 247) and St. Luke Passion (BWV 246) by J.S. Bach. In 2000, he participated in projects of The Amsterdam Baroque Choir (Director: Ton Koopman) and the Rheinische Kantorei (Director: Hermann Max). Since 2002 he has sung frequently as a freelancer with the Groot Omroepkoor. In 2009 he became a permanent member of the choir.

Aart Mateboer has participated in some twenty CD recordings and also regularly works on TV recordings for Nederland Zingt.

With guitarist Berry Selles and cellist Corien Kok he formed the Renaissance trio A Pilgrims Solace, and for many years he was Cantor at the Dutch Reformed Church in Kampen and sang with the Urker Men's Ensemble. Besides his performances, he has many private singing students, is conductor of the pop chamber choir Musical Art and artistic leader of the Close Harmony group The Dry Mills. With pianist Philine Coops, he forms a duo that performs a wide variety of repertoire.

Finally, for years he has been the initiator and organiser of the annual scratch in Kampen just before the summer holidays. He is also Freelance journalist at Wielerpersburo Cyclist Computer (since 1990). He currently lives in Lives in Kampen, the Netherlands.
