The Polish mezzo-soprano, Julia Mech, graduated cum laude from the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznan in 2018. Still as a university student, she made her debut in Verdi's La Traviata at the Poznan Opera House. At that time she also performed as Principessa in Puccini's one-act Suor Angelica at the Cathedral in Opole and at the Polski Theatre in Poznan. She was asked for the role of Golde in the production Fiddler on the Roof at the Poznan Music Theatre.
For the Poznan Opera House, Julia Mech performed in operas such as Georges Bizet's Carmen, W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, G. Verdi's La Traviata, Charles Gounod's Faust and Moniuszko's The Haunted Manor. Her concert repertoire includes Dvořák's Requiem, W.A. Mozart's Requiem and Coronation Mass, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria. In addition, she has been heard in recitals with songs by Johannes Brahms, Dvořák, Weill and Robert Schumann. In 2018, she was invited to perform a concert of highlights from the opera repertoire at the Art Festival at the City University of Hong Kong.
