The Dutch soprano, Hieke Meppelink, studied in the Conservatories of Amesterdam and Utrecht with Margreet Honig and Udo Reinemann and frequent courses of perfectioning guided by Sena Jurinac (Vienna), Barbara Schlick (Estugarda) and Anthony Rolfe Johnson (School Britten Pears, in England).
During her long career, Hieke Meppelink has established a firm reputation in Holland and dominates an extensive concert reportoire, which included music of 16th to 20th centuries, with prominence for Baroque music. She brought her her art through diverse recordings of CD’s and for the radio, dedicated to the music of J.S. Bach, Purcell, George Frideric Handel, Biber, François Couperin, Huygens and to other composers of the same period.
Hieke Meppelink is invited regularly by various international festivals of Baroque Music in Italy, France, Poland and England, in which she has already sang with the ensembles Il Fondamento, Baroque Orchestra of the Nederlandse Bachvereniging and Il Combattimento Consort. In Holland she sang with the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra and Filarmónica of the Radio and with the Residentie Orkest Den Haag.
In the area of opera Hieke Meppelink interpreted the roles of Euridice (Gluck and Monteverdi), La Musica (Monteverdi), Suzanna (W.A. Mozart), Najade (Strauss) and Belinda (Purcell). In 2000 she sang the role of Cathleen in Riders to the Sea by Ralph Vaughan Williams, with the Residentie Orkest Den Haag, in the Festival of the Flandres. |
