The Dutch baritone, Guyon Mingelen, received in his youth violin and piano lessons that eventually led him to his true passion, namely the world of lied. He has studied for his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Classical Singing with Marcel Reijans at Codarts, the Conservatorium van Rotterdam (since September 2020; expected graduation: August 2026).
Guyon Mingelen moves effortlessly between Baroque, Romantic, and 20th-century music, and moves audiences with his ability to seamlessly connect text and music. As a soloist, he has shone in works by George Frideric Handel, Gabriel Fauré, W.A. Mozart, Maurice Duruflé, J.S. Bach, and G. Rossini; on the opera stage, he has sung roles at Holland Opera and will portray Aeneas in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas in 2025. His affinity with the song repertoire was further shaped by masterclasses, performances at the International Lied Festival Zeist, and collaboration with greats such as Robert Holl.
Guyon Mingelen is also active in professional ensembles such as the Laurens Collegium Rotterdam (Director: Wiecher Mandemaker), where he sang with orchestras such as the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and the Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam. He currently lives in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. |
