Tabea Mitterbauer (Soprano)

Born: Austria

The Austrian soprano, Tabea Mitterbauer, was born into a family of musicians. She took on her first solo roles in her youth at the Landestheater Linz in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw and Debussy's Pelléas et Mélisande. After graduating from the Musikgymnasium Linz, she studied since September 2017 at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, first with Edith Lienbacher for her Bachelor's degree and then with Florian Boesch and Tanya Aspelmeier for her Master's degree in Lied-Oratorio-Concerto, which she completed with distinction in June 2025.

Tabea Mitterbauer has a particular love for both early and modern music. She works closely with the Belgian soloist ensemble Vox Luminis (Director: Lionel Meunier), with whom she has performed at the Thüringer Bachwochen, the Auditorio Nacional de Música Madrid, the Essen Philharmonie and the Salzburger Festspiele in the 2023-2024 season. In the 2024-2025 season, she will be touring with J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor BWV 232 and Johannes-Passion BWV 245 in collaboration with Vox Luminis and the Freiburger Barockorchester with performances in prestigious halls such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Liederhalle Stuttgart and the Concertgebouw Bruges, as well as performances in Seville, Madrid and Barcelona. She regularly sings with the Baroque ensemble Capella Sollertia under the direction of Johanna Soller in the Bach Cantata Series "Cantate um 1715" in Munich, as well as in their complete recording of Johann Ludwig Bach's cantatas. She has also participated more recently in the Masterclass "Bach Young Soloists" with Philippe Herreweghe and Dorothee Mields in Gent.

Tabea Mitterbauer has a particular passion for Lied. Having given recitals at the Wiener Konzerthaus and the Wiener Musikverein, amongst others. In May 2024, she performed in Arnold Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire at the KlangBildKlang Festival in Vienna. On the opera stage, she was engaged as Amitta in Georg Philipp Telemann's Der geduldige Sokrates together with the baroque ensemble Schirokko at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. From 2022-2024 she sang Cherubino and Barbarina at the Kammeroper München in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro with performances at the Cuvilliéstheater Munich, Nymphenburg Palace and guest appearances in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Tabea Mitterbauer has won prizes at several competitions, including Musica Juventutis, the BePhilharmonic Competition of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and Prima la musica.
