The American soprano and voice teacher, Lisa Jean Mooyman (neé Roundy), studied in England and at the Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio. as a Fulbright scholar, she specialized in Baroque and contemporary music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague, the Netherlands. She was the Metropolitan Opera Auditions winner for Oregon and regional finalist in 1993, and a national finalist in the the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Artist Award competition in 1989 where she was winner of the Alpha C. Mayfield Award.
Lisa Mooyman was heard on the Netherlands Classical Music Radio (NCRV), performed with De Nederlandse Bachvereniging, and was invited to sing for Princess Christina of The Netherlands. As a Baroque specialist, she has worked in Euroipe with conductors Roger Norrington, Jordi Savall, Ton Koopman and Paul Hillier, among others. She has performed up and down the West Coast with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Symphony, Oakland Symphony, Columbia Symphony, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (soloist in Bravo! Vancouver Concert Series) and Rose City Chamber Orchestra. In the early 1990's she was as member of American Bach Soloists (Director: Jeffrey Thomas) and recorded with them for the Koch label. Her oratorio work includes performances with the Portland Baroque Orchestra, Sacramento Choral Society, The Oregon Repertory Singers, Eugene Concert Choir, Choral Arts Ensemble, Willamette Symphonic Choir, and many other groups of distinction. She has sung Baroque music with The Winthrop Fleet in Los Angeles, and contemporary music with Third Angle and Fear No Music Contemporary Ensembles.
Lisa Mooyman portrayed Norina for Rogue Opera's Don Pasquale. Her W.A. Mozart roles include Constanza, Queen of the Night and Silberklang for the Aspen Music Festival; Adele in Die Fledermaus, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, and Mabel in Pirates of Penzance for Mock's Crest Productions; and Arsena in Strauss' The Gypsy Baron for The Musical Theater Company.
Lisa Mooyman was a private vocal instructor from 1987 to 2011. She is Professor of Voice at Concordia University, and was nominated “Teacher of Distinction” by the National Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts. She married Johannes Mooyman from the Netherlands on October 7, 1983 and has two daughterss. She currently lives in Portland, Oregon. |
